3.27 Poison/Chaos ranged Animate Weapon build | Uber Boss Killer | great clear 180m+ DPS
 Intro: Hi everyone, I want to show you my Poison/Chaos ranged Animate Weapon Necromancer which I first played in 3.23. This build guide is pretty dated so I decided to make a new build that uses the Foulborn versions of United in Dream and Severed in Sleep that were introduced in 3.27. Basics: Animate Weapon of ranged Arms animates Lingering Blades (which we create with Bladefall) to summon temporary minions with a long duration (~85s). You can simplify the summoning process by using the transfigured gem Bladefall of Trarthus. This version periodically generates new Lingering Blade around you at the cost of constantly draining your mana. The weapons are minions with a basic ranged attack and can be scaled significantly via minion modifiers like flat added damage, attack speed, gem quality and +levels as well as poison chance or crit later on. Class/Ascendancy: You want to play AW on the Necromancer so you can grab Unnatural Strength, Mindless Aggression, Mistress of Sacrifice and Bone Barrier for increased damage, phys to chaos conversion, withered on hit, minion&player survivability, skill effect duration, offerings applying to the player as well as minions leeching life to the player. Bandits & Pantheon: Kill all bandits for the passive points. Use Soul of the Brine King for freeze immunity and reduced chill effect as well as Soul of Ryslatha for flask charges and increased life flask recovery on low life. Leveling: The melee version of the skill gem can be accessed after the quest Breaking some eggs in act 1 but should only be used after acquiring unleash support at the end of act 4. Until then I recommend levelling with Absolution for ease of play. The ranged version is a transfigured gem which you can get from the lab or via trade. Pros and cons
Pros: + inherently aggressive minion, prioritizing enemies over following you even in the absence of a 'Minions are aggressive' modifier in your build + One of the few ranged minions that follow the player and can be convocated to your position + semi-permanent minion due to it's long duration + Great defenses: Block Capped, 4 endurance charges and scales down elemental& chaos dmg by a combination of Divine Flesh+Fourth Vow + Up to 4.5k/s life recovery due to (instant) leech + Chaos damage penetrates Energy Shield and nullifies damage reflection + amazing bosser due to strong single target damage even without Vaal Animate Weapon being active + Vaal Animate Weapon boosting the already insane dmg even higher while active Cons: - rAW requires Unleash and at least one more Support gem in dynamic map-like content, lowering dmg significantly - Like other temporary minions the weapons disappear on loading screens (including death) which makes re-entering dangerous invitations tedious - Vaal Animate Weapon has a long soul gain prevention timer (40s) and summons melee weapons which means they aren't fully supported gemn-wise and lack movement speed
Spectres and AG
You want to use the Stygian Silverback for frenzy charges, the Perfect Hulking Miscreation for the buff and the Perfect Forest Warrior for onslaught. For the fourth spectre (high budget) you should use the Perfect Warlord for endurance charges. The last three are itemisied spectres and can be accessed via Ritual or bought from trade. Before that you can use the Stygian Silverback and Host Chieftain for charges. They can be found in the following areas: Act 2 - The Riverways (Stygian Silverback) Act 6 - The Southern Forest (Host Chieftain) The gear of the AG heavily depends on the budget and can be found in the gear section of the respective PoBs.
