Well considering Steam charts only show a slice of the actual playerbase and standalone and console both exist too the numbers are honestly looking pretty solid especially when you remember the game is still in early access.
If you compare that to PoE1’s early access which had around 20k players on Steam this makes it pretty clear that PoE2 is doing just fine. On top of that if you look at most PoE1 leagues in the past they all see a healthy drop after the two week mark. That’s just how these launches usually go, so I’m not sure what kind of doomsday theory we’re supposed to be working with here. If anything what you’ve provided actually shows the game is doing pretty well even if that’s not the reality you were hoping for :) Just a small note, this would probably fit better in the PoE 2 section of the forums since it's PoE2 related, not PoE1. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-forum/2217 Windows 11, 9950X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR5, 14,100 MB/s SSD, 15,360x2160p @240Hz Ultra 4K Gaming & Workspace Powerhouse

" No I will not do such comparison. Comparing a janky brand new no name indie early access (13 years ago) with a sequel (Path of exile TWO) riding on a 13 years continuous success of Path of Exile ONE while having a literal $100m development budget (https://mein-mmo.de/en/head-of-path-of-exile-2-reveals-how-much-the-development-has-cost,1244690/) is not a fair or even a meaningful comparison. Two is supposed to directly inherit all of One's success, stellar repution, loyal playerbase, solid financial foundation, development experiences and still doing quite terrible with all that innate advantages. Its like a child flexing their dad's assets, houses and money. And claiming that at their age of 5 they're already richer than their dad back when he was at the age of 5, and therfore the kid is doing better than their peers, and their dad when he was 5. 1. " I'm not sure what you're trying to communicate with your posts - so far it only seems like you are determined to be unhappy about something. We have so many good games to play, PoE2 being one of them. You shouldn't measure how much you enjoy a game based on how many people have played it on Steam over the last few weekends. If you have actual constructive criticism for the game and want to discuss it, we're all here for it. If you just want to point at some downward trending numbers in a vacuum and say "they speak for themself", you're making the same mistake anyone who looks at numbers in a vacuum makes. I love PoE2 and I can't wait to see the rest of it's development. I don't think it's a perfect game at all but this is all part and parcel of being part of a beta - one of the best beta's I've ever participated in too. I can go back to 2013 and find a post almost identical to this one for PoE1 - which may as well have been considered to also be in EA until like 2015 - and that game gave me like 10k+ hours of some of the best gaming in my life. So what is it exactly that you think we should take away from these charts, aside from "this is how many people are playing"? |
