A suggestion to somewhat solve the whacamole resistance problem

I understand that people just want a straight bench, but I also understand that ggg wants to develop poe 2 in a way where we have an intrinsic time sync for any benefit in the game. I don't have anything against that personally, so with this constrain in mind, I came up with a "meet across the isle" kind of idea.

What if GGG creates a base currency (something that doesn't need a league mechanic to farm) that functions exactly like an awakener's orb, but instead it replaces a resistance with another?

We still have the need to go and get the pieces themselves to put them together. A piece of gear with the resistance we want, and the actual currency itself.

If I would have to go in to detail as to how to make this work? I would prefer to leave it up to GGG honestly, but they could make it so that when you right click the currency, you left click the resistance of an item to then click the resistance you wish to replace on another item.

Again, I get that people just rather bat this away to just go "but we have bench, why all this work?". Yeah, sadly that hasn't gotten us anywhere, so I'd rather just figure out a way to convince them otherwise. I enjoy the grind, but having part of the strategy of gearing up be to equip "dummy" gear that can be easily replaced later at ever single stage of upgrading is a bit too much.

That or have a constant burden to know that we can just play smith of kitava instead lol.
