What's with the lag today!?

Was playing Thai morning no issues... Literally 3 hours later after a nap cause I'm old I come back to not being able to load into a level without my character freezing and the game isn't even pausing... It's just lagging so bad that I press roll and I roll 4 seconds later and about 5 times. Or I die.
