Scouring orbs

Where are the bloody scouring orbs?? Give me one good reason to not have them in a game where you want ppl to pick up whites! All good, but give me the damn scouring orbs, noone is gonna hunt for dozens of white items...

Because if there were scouring orbs you would never need to pick up white items. Which is how it is in PoE1.


I would prefer to have scouring orbs, but that's their reasoning.
Um no, endgame base items dont drop that often, I would gladly farm for 1, but not 50...
because scouring orbs do not fit in poe2 crafting.

Poe1 craft = you will spam thousands of orbs on the same item until you get what you want, if goes wrong you scour, imprint, recomb, etc


Poe2 craft = way more deterministic, it has way less steps, but crafting orbs are more expensive and bases are expensive ( exceptional white ones, good magic bases with rare mods, etc).

I actually prefer poe2 way of crafting. It sucks to start something spamming 600 fossils or thousands of alteration orbs. And now good bases are actually interesting drops. Some multi socket white itens costs dozens of divines.

There is no way to deterministically craft a good magic base from a white, so you hunt fot the white than likely throw it away, you cant spam alters, poe 2 needs scouring orbs way more than poe1 !
You can even set them to not work on top ilvl items and keep those valuable.
Nope, scouring orbs have no place in PoE2.

People need to realize poe2 fix a lot of "exploits" or bad designs from PoE1, yeah I know...you disagree, you want to stay in your hideout and reroll all day the same item, yeah sorry but that's bad design, it had to go.

maybe at some day in the future you will realise that taking another base after bricking the first is exactly the same as taking another orb. both is a way to reset the item for your craft, but the poe2 one is more tedious.

So they took bad design from PoE1 and made it worse... Great

I never said its 100% deterministic. But its more than poe1. In poe2 you have perfect transmutation and augmentation, rolling high tier mods, reducing spamming by a ton. Essences are way better too, specially with perfect essences. You usually have a range of magic mods combination you want to start, then you go until the end with way higher chances of good itens than poe1. If you hit good you keep it, if you hit mid, you sell to other players and do it again with another base.

This make economy rolls. Ppl buy bases, ppl sell a lot of good itens while they try to hit the jackpot. Its a healthier system than scouring and alteration orbs
