Support gems in skill granted by Guiding Palm of Mind does not reserve spirit

I am using a Guiding Palm of the Mind in my offhand that grants me the Purity of Lightning skill. I noticed that when I slot in support gems that cost spirit reservation, these do in fact appear to not actually reserve any spirit at all.

It appears the support gems are still granting their effect (my mana regen goes up when I put in Clarity for example), and I also tried to add more spirit gems to see if it was just a visual bug, but this does also not appear to be the case.

Its like this with any aura sceptre and has been bugged for quite a while IIRC.
