Briarpatch and Brambleslam Scaling

Brambleslam says "increases and reductions to thorns damage apply to hit damage with this skill." This makes me believe the nodes on the Oracle passives scale this support gem but aside from scaling physical damage, does flat increases to thorns help Brambleslam?
