Why does soul rend do Physical DOT?

Why does Soul Rend from rare monsters do Physical damage over time yet our Soul rend does Chaos damage over time? Took me forever to figure out why I was dying instantly from these mobs as I am chaos immune...

There's no "our" Soulrend in the game yet. Does it look dark purple like in PoE1, and that's confusing you? If it deals phys DoT the source should be coloured red or something.

It is as MonaHuna states it, what you're seeing something named Soul Rend and its causing a physical DoT, that is a type and should read "Sole Rend". It rended your sole and thats why it hurts so much.

Yes it is dark purple but yeah it’s an attack called Soul Rend which does a physical dmg dot which is impossible to do anything against with on an armour build which is crazy to have a damage you have no way to reduce at all, only way to beat it is evade I guess or have more energy shield or life than it does dmg. Just crazy to have so many different type of damages in the game and then this one does something random and without a combat log you have no idea how you die. Same with mana siphon aura doing more than just mana siphoning. Why can’t they at least word stuff where people know what’s happening.
