Abyss Degen

My Stats: 2563 life, 233recovery per second, 7% dmg recouped as life
81% armor, 75 Fire/Cold/Lightning/Chaos + Shaman Ele ascendancies.
Bear build mainly maul and furious slam

The abyss mobs with the point blank aoe degen is easily 98% of my end game deaths. It just seems way to fast to be able to react to when there is so many slow effects already for melee, and they teleport to you so even if you can get outside it they are back on top of you.

I'm not sure but it seems like there isn't a way to mitigate it, even with a flask+regen it doesnt seem to slow the rate my health falls.

Would be nice to make it a touch more manageable for melee builds.

One of the only things that kills me these days, and it seems to kill everyone. I am really tired of it.
Armour dont apply to it, i think it's physical damage overtime and it prevent recovery of life and energy shield.

They already tunned it down quite a bit and it's better. Now depend on the combo you get it still very painfull sometimes. Anything slowing you like temporal bubble or so and you're dead faster than you can roll away.

Only way is to have big life or energy shield to survive until you kill it.

Whats the reason for mentioning "armor"?

That damage clearly isn't hit damage and it bypasses armour. So having 81% armour is totally irrelevant. 7% dmg recouped as life is completely laughable so I'm not sure why that is mentioned as well.

The only relevant things to the Damage Over Time in your case are Total Life and Life Regen Per Sec. And the only answer how you can survive those mobs are

a). Kill them instantly (< 1 sec should be benchmark)
b). Have outrageously high Regen (think 4x your current via things like consecrated ground etc.)
c). Higher total life. This is really hard to achieve with current options but also possible with certain combinations of uniques and items...

So, for Damage Over Time you should completely forget about armour, it doesn't help mitigate that whatsoever. Good luck and have fun.
Additional phys dam reduction effects it.

But so does just not standing in it.
Mash the clean
It disables recovery. Regen will only matter once you're out of the degen and recovering life. Not even omens work in it - but it will waste them lol.

It's a straight up physical degen.

That means you need explicit "physical damage reduction" stats to mitigate it. Armour does nothing because it only works against hits. Regen does nothing. Leech and recoup will do nothing.

You get this stat a few ways:
- it rolls on armour shields
- Taking physical damage as another damage type, and then having resistance of the converted damage. Eg. You have Elemental Adaptation ascendancy nodes for Shaman so you take 15% of physical as elemental. Your elemental resistances will mitigate the degen.
- Another ascendancy example is Jade Heritage for Warbringer.
- I think there's corruption outcomes with it.
- Unique items

Other than this you just need a larger pool of hit points, so lots of life/es.

I also recommend not standing in the goo if you can help it.
Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either.

So having no clue and still talking makes it better?

The degen denies any kind of recovery...

If OP has no clue about the mechanic, him offering all his known stats and defences is fine and offers informations for people with a clue about it. Which helps them determine the problem, but this should rather be in the discussions sections instead of the feedback, since many people already talked and reported it.

So if you have nothing to say, just don't and keep yourself from answering please.

Also DoT damage cannot be recouped, only hit sources will recoup damage, which makes DoT even more problematic.

Ok I was wrong in 1/3 of my points, but how is it nothing to say if you then repeat the other things that I said? Yeah I misunderstood the degen, but the rest of what I said still applies, minus the regen.
