[SOLVED] Game No longer starting due to CreateDXGIFactory1: Call failed
|
[EDIT][SOLVED] I eventually got it working by uninstalling the snap version of steam and installing the .deb version from the steam website, then re-downloading POE 2. When I reinstalled the game but was still using the snap version of steam it didn't fix anything, only reinstalling steam using the .deb worked
Original post: On Linux (Ubuntu), game has worked fine the past 2 weeks. Suddenly today when I click play on steam it crashes and a little window pops up that says "CreateDXGIFactory1: Call failed" I didn't update anything on my system between the game working and not working, and I didn't notice any download for POE 2 on steam before it broke I've searched online and found some previous pages on reddit/steam and tried the following Adding -vulkan to the steam command line args Using Proton (10.3, experimental, hotfix branches) Adding renderer_type=Vulkan into poe2_production_Config.ini Also trying DirectX11 and DirectX12 in that same setting Every one of those the same error comes up when starting the game OS: Ubuntu 24.04 noble Kernel: x86_64 Linux 6.14.0-37-generic CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core @ 12x 5.457GHz GPU: AMD/ATI Navi 32 [Radeon RX 7700 XT / 7800 XT], AMD/ATI Anybody got other things I can try to solve this issue? I don't play POE and you guys might be able to check this faster than it would take me to download 55GBs but I was able to sidestep this issue in other games by adding:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% As per reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1ppcb6p/snap_steam_issue/ |

Same issue here - immediately after latest Ubuntu update.
Have tried various versions of proton - same issue. |

[SOLVED] Just for people here with the same issue, in Ubuntu 24.04 I eventually "solved" it by uninstalling the snap version of steam and installing the .deb version from the steam website and then reinstalling POE 2. Just reinstalling the game with the snap version of steam didn't fix anything
Game works fine now just had to redo all my settings and will have to re-download all my other steam games at some point Zuletzt bearbeitet von M4rqui#3963 um 18.12.2025, 10:09:01
