Skill customization not really exciting…

I really enjoy PoE2 combat, but after having played Last Epoch I have to say: the skill customization in PoE2 feels unexpectedly lackluster.
During the playthrough, you get to add some AoE, crowd control and/or damage to a few skills (depending on the amount of currency that drops). Some feel a bit impactful, most feel like making the skill work like it was intended at baseline. Compare that to Last Epoch, where each skill has an entire tree to make skills completely different. This is more in the vicinity of what I thought the support gem system would do, but it just doesn’t. Note: I’m not saying Last Epoch is the better game. PoE2 is definitely the better game in my view. But I don’t think it’s really hitting it out of the park as a complete gaming experience, and skill customization is something that I imagined would be core to how awesome people feel that the game is, the replayability, etc. At this point my feedback is probably like a fart in the wind, but the bottom line is: if it continues like this, I don’t think this is shaping up to be the ARPG of the decade.
