Expedition not word

After reaching the endgame and completing some maps, I obtained some Logbooks. I tried using them through the NPC Dannig, but I noticed they weren't activating. The portals simply wouldn't open after I selected my destination in the Logbook; nothing happens when I click "Open Portals."
