Best Spectre now? Buffed Variants?

I didn't use Frozen Mandibles and always stuck to the Vaal Guard.
But I was looking into switching it up to get away from the major visual eyesore that the Guards bring with it.

Since Mandibles is gone, I was going to look into the Quill Crab, but noticed that's gone too??

So...besides the Guard, which Spectre(s) would be considered really good now?

ALSO! What does the "buffed variants" really mean? Does that mean if you get one in act3, there's one that's better to bind in an endgame map? I haven't been able to find any additional info about this yet.

Honestly bro, they kinda sucks compared to Mandible or Vaal Guard. The buffs they promised were essential worthless in the grand scheme. Wish they gave us more choice of game style to play with.
Vaal Guards are pretty busted still, guess we gotta wait for Ghazzy to come up with another nutty spectre, atm doing t6's and the guards still hold up really good, but i do have to admit am kind of tired of using the same spectres for such a long time..
I really wonder why its so hard for devs let people have fun... i mean why remove options, it was already few on 0.3 and its clear speed was just a fraction of deadeye o any attribute stacking build.
Mandibles were okay compared to the meta builds. Without them, the other minion builds are simply unplayable garbage. Clumsy, with delayed damage, constantly getting stuck in any obstacle, running a mile behind you and dying. At the same time, players tested every monster in the game to find at least something worthwhile, and besides ants, everything else is trash.
Monsters with auras can now only be companions, which is super disadvantageous for summoners due to the % reservation. The useful unique boots for summoners disable sprinting, all designed to make minions super slow and annoying. GGG is clearly deliberately nerfing every playable minion build, i have no idea how anyone benefits from this.
