Can't pick items from the ground with Devour

I have devour on my left click and when attempting to pick up items it will just refuse to do so, or attempt to target nearby corpses and - yet again - refuse to pick up anything from the ground.

I attempted to do it as well by pressing the Item Pickup Key, without any luck.
