Removing XP loss while mapping
|
As a casual player the XP loss while mapping is brutal. One death and I basically have to complete 2 maps to gain it back. Two death and it's terrible. It's hard enough to get to higher levels as it is then add the time limit of a league. I'm sure for hardcore gamers/streamers it's not a big deal. They can blast for 6, 8, 10+ hours a day, whatever and it's not an issue. However, players that get about 10-12 hours a month its unforgiving.
It feels horrible and sucks the enjoyment out of the experience. Also, you are being punished for trying harder content. I am not sure what the purpose is? There is enough things you have to progress as it is: Passives, gear, Atlas, Delirium, Rituals, Breaches, Ascendancy, etc. I like the game a lot and I've been a supporter since the launch. If I never get to fight pinnacle bosses (and I haven't yet), that's cool. I like content that is very hard to get to and achieve. But, at least let us more casual players keep progressing in levels as we map. The XP loss seems unnecessary. Thanks for your consideration, POE2 Supporter Zuletzt angestoßen am 14.11.2025, 12:56:24

" Players that get 12 hours per month will not reach maps before the next league. So map EXP loss is not their concern anyway. |

" The punishment is for pushing content above the limits of what a build can safely do and giving an incentive to have defenses. Im not sayings the xp rates are in the right spot, they may/may not be, but the death tax does have a purpose. It's actually not that uncommon in action games for players to be at risk of losing xp. Best time to test a builds limits is when the xp bar is already at 0% "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

" Play Standard, and progress as slowly as you need to. I'm probably going to roll my current character into Standard SSF in December. I've farmed the high-end lineage gems in SSF, and I really don't want to do it again for a while. Edit: Characters get transfered to Standard automatically. What I mean is I'm going to keep playing the same character, unless the new league mechanic looks amazing. SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter. https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/ba84 Zuletzt bearbeitet von DistributedAutomaton#5739 um 14.11.2025, 12:39:19

I think removing the penalty is too much, i like that the idea that we should fell the loss when we die, however i agree that the punishment is too overtuned right now. Not counting the possible loss of a mpa, 10% is way too much considering how hard is too get that xp back in some lvls. I think 5% would be great
I played a MMORPG 20 years ago that had a quest where the reward was an iten that passively reduced the death penalty, they could do something like this. Like, create a last quest in the campaing that gives you an item that when used reduce you xp loss forever, or just make a quest in the endgame for that, like a lvl 85 quest or something |
