Verisium Spikes Quest Trouble

Once you aquire the verisium Spikes. Going back to Dannig is supposed to complete the quest. He does not have the interaction above to accept the item to complete the quest?

you go to dannig with verisium, dannig gives verisum spikes then you go to journey's end to stab a totem with spikes and free the old lady.
