cant socket Fire Spell on Hit

Idk if I am an idiot or not but I just cannot socket a skill gem into Fire Spell on Hit. I tried all sorts of different ways, made sure I met the requirements for the skill. when I select a fire skill gem to put into it, the interface won't allow me to select Fire Spell on Hit.

first socket the fire skill you want to use than add up to four support gems

My issue is that I can’t socket any fire skill into the meta. I select a fire skill gem from my inventory in the skilll pane, and then it’s simply not able to put it in the meta. That is, the meta is not selectable

which skills are you trying to use with it?

Any fire spell. I ended up just trying to use fireball just to see if I can get something in there

Lucky for you, grinding gear games, I like this game so much I paid for the beta on both me PS5 and PC. I can confirm that I AM able to socket fireball in the meta gem on PC, but NOT on my PS5. As stated previously, on PS5, I am unable to select fire spell on hit to socket after selecting fire ball to be socketed.
