Why is it taking so long to buff life.
ES is the only viable defense.
Zero variety. Just Buff life for everyone except blood mage. This is ridiculous. I have 120-200 maximum life on almost every gear slot. It was expensive to get and my guy has 2000 life. GGG is the worst fucking company at balancing games I've ever seen. ES users running around with 20k shield.. and they nerf evasion. DOUBLE evasion against projectiles. It's a no brainer. You're welcome. 20 monsters stopping and surrounding you all having open LOS to attack when it only takes a couple shots to kill is stupid after the evasion nerf. Meanwhile you have to run around and kill all of them because they're in a circle. Can't wait for full release in 10 years. Although ES is definitely strong now. I think people really misunderstand what those 20K ES characters are really like. You think the 20K ES is 10 times bulkier than your 2K life.
The reality is that ES is the only defense that doesn't actually reduce the amount of damage you think. People with 20K ES exist because if you want to go full ES, you kind of HAVE to go 20K. Imagine a 4K physical damage hit. Sure, a guy with 20K ES will tank it. But so would someone with 2K life and 50% Armor reduction. The difference is that the Es guy will take 4K physical damage while the armor guy takes 2K physical damage. This has multiple effects because damage takes points from your stun threshold. Worse still, life gives stun threshold, but Energy Shield doesn't give stun threshold unless you also invest heavily on a lot of passives for that matter. Without this care, the ES user will get stunned and most likely die. No matter your stats, if you get stunned there's not a lot you can do at t15. It is also significantly harder to recover 4K damage versus recovering from 2K damage. Without CI this also makes you vulnerable to bleeding. It's the same with evasion. Maybe evasion doesn't happen very often, but when it does, that's a 100% reduction of damage. That means damage that won't reduce your thresholds. Now, I am not going to lie. When you get Chaos Inoculation and really build your passives towards maxing your ES. It really works ant it's quite a cool way of playing. But if you think 2K life required a lot of investment, you have no idea just how much of the passive tree has to be spent to accomplishing it without otherwise being incredibly vulnerable to some situations. |

" You tried to make life + armor sound better/equal to energy shield, but painted a picture where the life-armor character dies in 1 hit (a 4k hit halved by 50% reduction dealing 2k damage to the character you said has 2k health, one shot kill), while the energy shield character can tank 5 hits just to break shield then a 6th hit to actually die, showing that even in your example the energy shield was far better than having life and armor. Now if the armor guy could take 2 hits... energy shield still better. 3 hits, shield better. 4, shield better...... Also don't forget everybody who's stacking energy shield is also getting both stun threshold and ailment threshold from energy shield. They may very well even end up with more threshold than the life guy. |

The real question is why are they taking so long to nerf ES?
All they need to do to life is remove the -3% life nodes and the Gaint's blood nerf. Their original idea of not making life nodes mandatory was great. It's just an insult that every node on the warrior side has a downside. |

Life and evasion are wonderful, especially with the addition of deflection. Energy shield is excellent too. It's armor-based builds that need some love.
