FPS and cpu usage problems
Ryzen 7700x cpu
32gb ddr5 6000 4070ti https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5bOFbD4ErY Game is basically unplayable at times. Anytime things are spawning my fps drops below 60 often times around 15-20fps. This can be from any league mechanic breach, corruption, expedition, ritual, abyss(mega lag). During the fps drops my cpu and gpu usage both drop quiet a bit but the game is reporting 40ms+ cpu and ive seen up to 20ms gpu. The shader bar is constantly full while this is happening as well. I have tried every setting. Nothing helps with this problem. The performance was bad at the start of the league then was better for a week or 2 then got messed up again. I don't know what patch exactly but something is wrong here. My computer should not have trouble running a game like this. " Your single-core CPU is overloaded during high-end mapping, that’s the bottleneck. Even people with top-tier GPUs like the 4090 see the same issue. You can drop the game to 144p and still hit 20-fps lows in high-end maps; at that point, it’s not the GPU. Ironically, Apple’s M4 Pro/Max currently lead in single-core performance (around 3900–4000). So either hope GGG delivers major optimizations, or wait for a CPU that can reach 6000–7000 single-core to achieve at least 40–50 fps in high-end maps. |

" Me thinks they don't know what they're talking about..... or are just really bad at explaining it. Like what are they talking about 3900-4000 and 6000-7000. It's not passmark scores for single thread performance and if they're talking about Mhz that doesn't matter as ipc is what measures what a cpu can do not it's clock speed Zuletzt bearbeitet von baconbyte#0146 um 22.09.2025, 16:28:05

I don't see how single threaded performance is really important here. POE has been capable of using 16 threads since like 3.0. I seriously doubt poe2 isn't multithreaded. Geekbench scores are also set off a baseline of another cpu. Anything higher than 2500 just means its faster than their baseline(i7-12700). Also synthetic benchmarks aren't a good way to look at performance in a specific game.
The problem is the game(or windows+game?) not my cpu. If the game can't run properly on a system built 3 years ago then how do they expect people with average systems to play? Etched in blood

There's nothing too wrong with the optimization of this game and it does use multiple cache threads effectively.
There's somethings to note on getting optimal performance, regardless of how high spec you are: - You must use DLSS/Xess/FSR, no native res and the game is extremely stable at 60fps 1440p with all the effects and spanws going off (but too much ignited/shocked ground can destablize). If you want 120 fps like I'm using, use x2 frame gen and it has extremely minimal input latency - If you're on radeon cpu/gpu, its very much worth testing Vulkan. On the latest AMD products though I think DX12 edges it though for performance and graphics. - Shader load and the quality of MS on your network is extremely important. Perform a ping test (example : Ping google.com -t) and if there's high ms or massive spikes you are going to be performance butchered on any shader loading. - Change PoE2 chat to unused channels - Windows optimization for games is important to have checked on to eliminate frame stutter and more. Make sure Windows is set up correctly to prioritize games and test other games, get the information overlay displays with frame stutters and % gpu/cpu use and if they aren't performing perfectly you could use a gpu driver reset or an OS reinstall/reconfigure.
