Example of extremly unbalanced difficulty

There is this Interlude boss Lythara, The Waywards Spear. On my first playtrough as a Lich i struggled extremely. I would easily call this worst designed boss fight in the game. The arena is tiny and she fills it up to the brim with crazy amounts of Azmeri Spirits effects that are near impossible to dodge. I probably died at least a dozen times before finally beating her by the tiniest margin.

But here is the thing. On my second playtrough with a Deadeye character she just melted in under 5 seconds, never even spawned any of her way overtuned effects. So majority of players this league don't even have an idea how bad this boss design is and would probably call you out for "skill issue".

Imho bosses should never skip their dangerous phases regardless of player power. This would force GGG to actually experience their own designs even if they test it only with some OP builds and fine tune the difficulty so it becomes a more level playing field for everyone.

Or you could just not go the the side of the arena with the spirits, so she can't buff. But I guess that would be too hard.

You think i haven't tried this? I tried only standing in the very south tip, tried standing between her and the spirits etc. In her last stage she fills everything up regardless where you are and what you do. But if you just play something different none of these issues ever even appear.

I'm playing a sorc and only had that problem once. Not letting her get to the wisps is ezpz and the fight is also ezpz then.

I don't know if my struggle was specific to the mechanics of the ED Lich class what with totem placement and such. In general i didn't struggle with bosses. But this one was 10x harder and more overtuned than anything in the campaign and after. Either way my criticism is how the same content goes from super difficult to piss easy easy for the same player just by playing something different. There are other examples for this, especially during the trials.

And i also think that if GGG wants "slow and methodical" combat then insta melting shouldn't be rewarded by never even exposing players to the dangerous parts of a fight.
With how massively undertuned act 4-rest is I couldn’t tell you what mechanics any of the bosses have they all die to fast to even know what’s going on
