Why doesn't the Large Soul Core just remove the water?

Why is there a non-boss zone with a ton of levers here?

Does it make more sense that a giant lever removes the water than that a Large Soul Core does it?

Feels like gameplay padding in an otherwise decent act. And I don't even hate the zone - could make for a decent (uncommon) map if it had enough density.

The odd thing is, this zone is very annoying and its already been shortened once. It needs it again. As for the giant core lowering it on its own, think of it like an automatic drain. If the drain is set to close and the power goes off, it stays closed. When power comes back it doesn't auto open. That would require the switch we hit. No one in their right mind would build the waterways the way they did tho and with no direct path to the switch.
