Visage of Ayah Beaded Circlet not setting ES to 0?

So, I'm playing a lich and was going to use Visage of Ayah Beaded Circlet's Eldritch Battery to set my ES to 0 so I can restore my char's life... But it keeps 313 of the ES intact, despite what the Eldritch Battery tooltip says. Is this a bug?

Eldritch Battery converts base ES. You have a source of % life/mana as ES.

eh, I guess, I can just stand in a fire on a campaign map or something to regain health.
