Are 20fps dips in beefed up maps, common?

Hello! I’m currently on an M2 Max (12-core CPU, 30-core GPU). I get 60–70 FPS during the campaign and in the hideout, but endgame beefed-up maps are so demanding that my FPS drops to 15–20. In lower mob density areas it stays around 50–55 FPS—and that’s even with FSR on.

The YouTubers who are show-casing the performance are not very reliable, as they are not mapping.

I’ve heard that people with NVIDIA 4090s experience the same dips only in beefed-up maps.

I’d like some insight into the game’s performance: are these dips common?

I love PoE 2 and was about to buy a 4090 just to fix the beefed-up maps, but after some basic research I’ve got mixed feelings.

Yes!

Even with a 4090 and 9800X3D i get them dips down to like 20-30 fps.
No matter what resolution i tested, with or without DLSS, clearing the shader folder, setting the shader cache to 100gig and what ever else was posted about "improving" the performance.

The Game is just so badly (un)optimised that we will have to live with this crap till some 1 at GGG has time to fix it.
@securetate, yeah same here mate, I have a similar setup and its very stuttery this time around :(

I really do hope so, because I love this game.

The current common opinion is: A very very smooth campaign experience, BUT the mapping is the cause of the dips. also some MTX are causing a slight dip in fps +- 10fps. E.g Divine Paladin weapon skin.

Edit: Due to how this game is in open access, we can safely assume that things will get optimized at release, but as mapping is more CPU intensive, it is your single core that is more important, and ironically speaking M4 Max CPU has the highest single core in the market.

Its will still not fix the fps dips, but it will improve the fps lows. From 15-20fps to 25-33fps .

Also 4090, i9-13900k 64gb and I also dip below 30fps once in a while(abyss), that’s where I usually also die :D
Yes, they read that BL4 performance manifesto.
Please, GGG, consider this as a priority. Many people stop playing once they reach maps because the performance is so poor.
Yes cause it's not hardware problem but software problem, engine just can't handle it
