Cast on Critical now limited to one?!

Brief question:

Is Cast on Critical now limited to just one?

I can't equip a second gem no matter what, but I'm pretty sure it was possible in the past. Could not find anything related in the 0.3 patch notes.

Since 0.3 you can't use a duplicate of any skill gems.
But you can now use duplicates of any support gems.

You can no longer socket multiple copies of the same Skill Gem into your main skill sockets. Skills not granted by gems and skills socketed into Persistent Buff Skill Gems do not count towards this limit. You can still have multiple copies of Spectres or Tamed Beasts, but only one of each kind of monster.

Since you need to invest quite a lot into crit and energy-generation, just having one CoC setup seems a bit inefficient in many cases.
Can't say I like it.

I didn't test it before the change, so i can't really say how it was back then. But i did watch a lot of Cast on X build videos, and there were some stupid-level-power builds out there before, with several instances of the Meta gems.

It's not that easy now, but there are still huge things to exploit around cast on X. I believe blood mage with cascading spells (and i don't especially mean spell cascade support) can exploit it quite a lot.

The builds that looked good actually used an unintended interaction. For example, triggered lightning bolt from choir generating energy. When you read the description of energy it is explicitly stated that triggered skills do not generate energy (and in general they don't).

There were also some solar orb setups generating unreasonable energy, very fast, that one is harder to explain.

Typically, when you were doing Cast on X things, even with a large amount of links, you already killed everything in the map and your stuff would just have only triggered a few times (unless using Solar Orb).

It's just not like in poe1 (unfortunately).
Reminds me of old POE1, when CoC setups had no frame limit, and you could unleash hell to anything with the press of a button ahah
