Blood Mage - Whispers of the Flesh

I don't understand exactly what this passive is doing.

It says:

"
Enemies you Curse have at least 15% of Life Reserved.

Okay, so what is 15% or more of their life being reserved for and why would I want them to be able to reserve anything at all? Is it just worded funny or am I having a stroke?

So if a mob has 100 health, and it has 15% reserved, that means when you approach/interact with the mob, it basically has 85 health instead.

Hmm..okay. I think saying something like "Cursing an enemy reduces it total max health by at least 15%". That would be the same thing, right? When something is reserved, I think of it as having extra set aside or something.

It's not quite the same.

For example, if something has 1000 life and regenerates 10% life per second:

Reducing max life by 15% also reduces regeneration from 100 to 85

Reserving 15% of their life does not.

Also, if something were to, say, do 10% more damage while over 90% life, reserving 15% of their life would turn that off, while reducing their max life would not.

I can think of zero bosses where this would functionally matter, but there's a few rare mods where it might.
