Suggested Changes for Path of Exile 2

As a long-time PoE player, I believe that Path of Exile 2 could greatly benefit from a few key changes to its drop rates, itemization, crafting mechanics, and skill system. Here are my suggestions:

---

1. Increase Currency Drop Rates

The drop rate of Exalted Orbs, Chaos Orbs, and Orbs of Alchemy should be increased by 25%.

This would improve the crafting experience, support a healthier economy, and reduce frustration—especially for newer players.

---

2. Improve Mod Tier Consistency for High Item Level Gear

Items with a high item level should no longer be able to roll mods lower than tier 4.

This would make late-game crafting more rewarding and reduce the randomness of getting trash stats on endgame bases.

---

3. Introduce a System to Refine Item Stats Beyond Quality

White (normal) items in the late game should be convertible into a special material.

This material could be used to gradually improve mod values within their tier range, similar to quality but focused on fine-tuning numeric rolls.

For example: if you roll a T4 life mod with 105 HP (range: 90–125), you could use this material to slowly increase it toward the maximum of 125.

---

4. Skill Gems as Items With Linked Colored Sockets

Active skill gems should drop as separate items (not just as unlocks or purchases).

These gems should have their own linked colored sockets, and players would need to craft or modify the socket colors using a new type of currency to match their build.

This would add a layer of depth and personalization to skill gem customization.

---

5. Rework Weapon Damage Progression

The base weapon damage should be capped at a maximum of around 300, depending on item level.

Additional mods like “% increased Physical Damage” and “Adds # to # Physical Damage” should have narrower roll ranges.

This change would allow a wider variety of usable weapon drops during gameplay, and encourage players to swap weapons more often throughout progression.

Currently, most players change their main weapon 3–5 times per character, mostly in the early acts, and then get locked into one option.

---

6. Buff All Underused Skills

All underperforming or "dead" skills should receive meaningful buffs.

This would allow players to experiment with more diverse builds without feeling like their damage is 50% lower than meta options.

Additionally, in SSF (Solo Self-Found) mode, significantly increase the drop rate of all currency items to make crafting more enjoyable and rewarding.

Add a crafting bench, similar to the one in PoE 1.

Introduce an in-game market system to allow trading without needing to use an external website.

Nexus corruption should spread automatically when activating towers, allowing players to engage in both map clearing and Nexus progression.
Alternatively, if the current system is to remain—where we search for Nexuses that grant Atlas points—then I would suggest expanding the Atlas map to, say, 140 points.
Example point rewards:

1 point for completing any map,

4 points for completing a gold (rare) map,

6 points for completing a Nexus.
This would give players more control over how they shape their Atlas, increasing specific drops or encounters based on their preferences.

Redesign the Atlas map to resemble a climbing tree structure with branches, where each path leads to specific strongholds or content types—offering 100% chances of finding particular encounters, instead of walking in circles.
(Though to be fair, the current system doesn’t bother me much.)

Until there’s a wider variety of engaging map events, consider reducing the size of some endgame maps.
Many of them feel too large and uneventful, making the game feel like it drags on without anything impactful happening.

More and more fun with crafting and skills! (Oh wait, I already said that.

What annoys me the most about gear—aside from weapons—are boots, specifically the movement speed stat.
Boots should be the only item that always comes with an extra, unique rune slot, giving them a maximum of two rune slots.
This special slot would be the only place where movement speed can be added, but only through unique movement-speed runes—not as a regular stat.
That way, every pair of boots could become valuable, because right now we all just look for that one specific stat, and 99% of boots get thrown away.
