Misleading Information Strategies
Hello,
I am curious about why it is that there is apparently so much misleading information in trailers and so forth regarding the game and classes? I see it in YouTube videos as well, when for example streamers or just content creators talk about the game, they talk about weapons like spear and buckler, as if they represented classes. Those two things are often spoken about in a synonymous fashion. While it might be true that Huntress for example is more predestined to use something like spear, she really doesn't have to. And as a Warrior I also don't have to use maces. But classes in trailers are represented in a way that they ought to use these weapons and I have seen people confuse these terms even, saying Huntress when they mean spear, like talking about spear skills as huntress skills. Is this some kind of trick to make people get a feeling of mastery when they see through these kinds of "illusions"? I have even seen people talk about different ascendancies as needing to have different kinds of builds, like blood mage having to use physical damage spells. In kind regards Zuletzt angestoßen am 26.07.2025, 14:32:05

That's what turns me off in poe2. That they "want" you to use a spear for a huntress etc. In reality, the weapons have more a class weight than the characters. You have many gems in the game but many of them, can't function without others. PoE1 is superiour in this design somehow. It feel more free in terms of which things you can combine when you are speaking about gems.

Another misleading information strategy seems to be to call the gambling system a crafting system.

You could cross-class a weapon, but why? There is no reason to, because the classes fit best with the weapons they were designed for, and all of the attack skills are locked to a type of weapon. There is basically one exception, and that is Gemling. You could call Gemling a late game ascendancy to switch into for better scaling on some builds.
They are not talking in black and white like it is not possible, they are talking in terms of viability and clearing content. Your witch with a staff might feel good early in the campaign, but probably doesn't scale, and there was probably something better you could have gone that is easier to scale or takes less to switch out of when you want to scale. Your bloodmage with a spear leeches like crazy, it was a cool idea you worked super hard on, but you probably just could've listened to someone better, gone amazon and got a single affix on gloves or weapon instead and be doing 10x the damage. " I mean, PoE2 doesn't have a crafting system, it is literally gambling. It is not that people call gambling a crafting system, it is THE FACT that PoE2 is pure gambling. They might bring crafting to the table someday... or not, because the vision is to make the game frustrating, not fun. |
