PvP future aspects?

A duel arena and an open large scale PvP map or Area with PvE incentives in the center. Scale teams to 3 per team. Scale movement speed to a maximum modifier of like 35-50%. Disable teleport skill and any skill that allows faster travel around area movement speed cap. Area has 3-5 teams.

Yes I understand PvP is a future day problem to tackle but I haven’t heard chirps or crickets about it. Having an idea about what we could expect to see in the future would be nice even if it’s a year or two away.

It’s sad to think PvP could be that far away but not knowing it will exist in this game is far worse.

It would be nice to have tools to create guild wars and have PvP tournaments even if the community has to organize them.

PvP helps give guilds a purpose as long as guilds are an aspect of some form of PvP.

I personally think players would be more enthusiastic and engaged all season long if PvP existed in a balanced state but I understand that the last bit is a lot harder than I understand.

The only way I can think of to tackle it is area modifier caps to some modifiers but not others.

Damage gain of any form should be capped but you’d probably have to calculate fair capping on an ascendancy by ascendancy basis.

Movement speed and any skills that allow you to teleport is the easiest thing to cap, but everything else would be real work and truly hard number crunching.

Though it is a daunting challenge PvP challenges including group PvP challenges would make a stark difference in enjoyment over time.

And let me please request that you take into account people who enjoy smurfing. You don’t have to balance it as much at all obviously but locking PvP to late game only takes away so much free value to the broader PvP community.

In PoE1 they have dipped their toes into PvP quite a bit. The problem is balancing it is an entirely different game and no matter what they do the gameplay patterns will be toxic, because frustrating interactions like traps and CC into one shot are always the best. Playing around them is just playing rock/paper/scissors matchmaking.

I was a part of the PvP leagues when they existed. I really wanted it to be fun. It was not fun.
