Nimiz & Boss damage dilemma [solved]
I wanna try farming Uber Exarch for some Forbiden Jewels.
My goal is obv to kill him before the Ball Phase. Although i have 11 projectile with flasks actice, due to Nimiz only ~25% of them hits the boss. Including the returning projectiles its still only 50%. So i assume without Nimiz my damage doubles. Is this assertion roughly correct? If so, is there a better replacement specific for Exarch other than a 2nd Taming? Build is LS Slayer. Im bad at math. " According to the 1st page of DPS ranking in poe.ninja (Settlers League), Without "The Squire" and with "Nimis" LS slayer build ranges 7.7M ~ 41M https://poe.ninja/builds/settlers?skills=Lightning+Strike&class=Slayer&items=!The+Squire,Nimis&sort=dps Without "The Squire" and without "Nimis" LS slayer build ranges 17M ~ 80M https://poe.ninja/builds/settlers?skills=Lightning+Strike&class=Slayer&items=!The+Squire,!Nimis&sort=dps (I excluded rank 1 since it seems exceptional case) Seems like it's roughly correct. Edit The reason for the "w/o The Squire" query is because it's too specific. In other words, it would be a "Squire or non-Squire build" comparison rather than LS (slayer) build. Not sure this method is viable.
The first 2 chars i checked had attack projectiles return to you enchant on their weapon which is litterally a Nimiz. After I reduced it to Claw/Shield, the spread has already been decreased. Might be a good indicator though. Im bad at math. Zuletzt bearbeitet von LoTharios#3338 um 02.06.2025, 08:36:06

"It doesn't matter how many projectiles hit the boss, they don't shotgun. Returning allows projectiles to hit twice. |

No matter how many of your total projectiles hit the boss, nimis will DOUBLE that damage because all the projectiles that DO hit will hit twice.
Removing Nimis won't suddenly make more projectiles hit the boss....at least in most cases. Also I'm pretty sure that the same monster cannot take damage from multiple projectiles at once, although I'm not 100% on that. In the case of LS, it won't double your OVERALL damage because projectiles don't make up your full dps. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Zuletzt bearbeitet von cowmoo275#3095 um 02.06.2025, 09:12:43

" Yes, "shotgun" capability is the grand root of this augment and I believe OP tried to min-max under the restriction. " "reducing the range to Claw/Shield" for example is too specific. It would be "claw/shield or other variant" comparison. It's just a general rule but if we want to compare "LS slayer /w nimis or w/o nimis", there should not be other defining query. (imagine if we aim for "the exact specification". there should be no spread in theory.) " That would change everything, never heard of this. I just went by the look of it and assumed that picture 2 (no Nimiz) would hurt what was in front of me more. ![]() ![]() Im bad at math. Zuletzt bearbeitet von LoTharios#3338 um 02.06.2025, 09:42:26

" It's pretty standard for projectile skills to NOT shotgun. What makes LS unique is that it can double-hit, once with the melee and once with the projectile, essentially dealing twice the damage. Returning projectile will double the projectile portion of the damage. More projectiles means more coverage, but not more damage. Starting anew....with PoE 2

Just checked on PoEWiki:
The projectile returns in the direction of its creator. Unlike other behaviours, returns allows one additional collision (per simultaneous set) against targets that were already hit.[6] If a projectile returns directly from an enemy, that enemy cannot be hit by other returning projectiles in the same set So that means only one of the returning projectiles per attack can collide again? 1 at initial collide and 1 from the returning ones? That would mean i could do the same damage with just one Projectile. So id better get a second Amulet/Helmet with different Annoint/Enchant. Im bad at math. " You missed everything before that.... "The game normally prevents 'shotgunning'. When multiple projectiles are created simultaneously, only one of those projectiles can collide with the same target. Projectiles after the first will pass through without colliding. Similarly, it prevents multiple collisions from Forked or Split projectiles (that Return). Key phrase "prevents multiple collisions from forked, split, return". Only one return projectile can hit the same target, just like the initial collision. https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Return Starting anew....with PoE 2 Zuletzt bearbeitet von cowmoo275#3095 um 02.06.2025, 09:34:56
