Stuck in Trial of Chaos

Blinked a wall, no monsters spawned and i escorted the idol to the end. went back to blink the wall, lowered the platform, monsters spawned but trial still isnt finished. now i cant tp back, and cant progress, saving and quitting just brings be back to the chaos trial. how do i leave?
