Missing Soul Core

I died while killing Zicoatl at the same time in Cruel difficulty and now I cannot retrieve the soul core to progress to the next map. I have reset the instance several times but the quest list just tells me to pick up the soul core that is not there. I even killed Zicoatl again and it did not drop it. Can't progress after this.
