Auction House as a concept in PoE2
So recently I was thinking about some "currency exchange"-like system for all items in PoE2, basically an AH. (crazy new idea, I know)
As long as I can remember I was against this option in PoE as well as all the Devs obviously. Chris' Trade manifesto made sense in this iteration of PoE. When it comes to PoE2 however, I wonder what would be the downsides of that, really? Drops are already so sparce, I don't think easier trading would change much for drop rates. There wouldn't be much of an oversaturation, not more than already exists. The drops that matter right now are already automated, basically currency/shards. They obviously have to introduce some opportunity cost, but that should be doable with Gold. Maybe a fine for the seller as well as the buyer, to limit how much u can trade without actually playing the game. Make costs scale with item level and tier of affixes or something like that. Right now in PoE2 people are already incentiviced to buy upgrades from trade during campaign. It is possible to self found ur way through, but I think it's pretty hard for newer players and also very reliant on RNG. Without a doubt alot of players hate the current trading system and for newer players it must seem like they are playing a '90s game in that aspect. So, I'm not really interested in people agreeing and telling me how much they want an AH, rather than I want to hear reasons why it would be bad in current PoE2 0.2. Genuinely curious.
