Lightning Rod + Essence bug?

Level 26, Valley of the Titans.

Just dropped a bunch of Lightning Rods around the center of the crystal to set up damage burst. When clicking the crystal, all affects mobs disappeared. They all maintain movement and projectile collision despite no longer being able to interact with/see them.
