Essence drain and Contagion can crit?

Can non Ailment damage over time crit, such Contagion and Essence drain dot? Everyone is talking about Dots cant crit, but they all talk about bleed, ignite and posion, but what about Spells with damage over time? When i open my skill interface, it showing me crit chance on those 2 spells, but does it realy work?

For ED the crit chance is probably for the projectile which does initial damage. I don't think contagion has a projectile, but maybe it does initial damage anyway?
