XP loss vs XP gain is too punishing

I hit 90 about 2.5 weeks ago. I'm now 93. I play maybe 5 hrs a day on average. I'm burnt out man. Just give me some f'ing XP and stop talking it away in such big chunks. I played like 8 hrs today. Started at 13% XP and ended at 8% XP.

This is frustrating to no end. There's literally no reward for my time.

I just want to finish this character so I can try something else. And no I don't want to just leave it unfinished. If that's what it comes to, I'll just quit to play something else that's more fun.

Inb4 the "git gud" squad arrives.

It serves a purpose so lvl 100 isn't feasible for the people that will just brute force their way there through a battle of attrition. I don't hate it, but the XP curve needs to be tuned badly. If you're not consistently clearing T15 and losing XP, logic would dictate a step back to T14 (assuming your build is in a good place). Problem is if you step back even 1 tier waystone the XP gain becomes glacial, and just feels like you're wasting time.

IMO by the time you reach low 90's everything else above that is just sort of a bonus, and not really needed unless you're trying to put together some giga-one shot build to farm endgame bosses and need every skill point possible. Figure that in the normal span of a league we'd be just about done and getting ready to start a new character anyway.

For me once the XP gain starts to become too taxing and progress starts to plateau I've just been starting a new character to try out as many as possible.
It's particularly bad in PoE2 because due to the nature of how mapping works here you will primarily run t15/t16 maps, some t17, and a few t18.
You write you are lvl93. Try lvl97. The exp bar moves like a fucking snail through molasses.
Even with Omen of Amelioration, which cuts the exp loss down to 2.5%, it takes like 10+ maps to gain that much exp, meaning that a death is a loss of 2-3 hours of progress even with the Omen.

Even without exp loss it takes a eternity to reach lvl 100. We're talking like 500+ hours. Why they deem it is necessary to add a time waster on top that does nothing but frustrate the player I don't understand. It adds nothing to the game but frustration.

"GGG doesn't respect your time" is a bit of a meme at this point, but tbh, it's true.

I have the utmost respect for players that like the  'xp loss on death'  gameplay mechanic - your opinion is valid and im not here to argue against you.

Sadly, from my experience with the game since December, this mechanic is the single main reason i quit playing Endgame.

I dont find it fun, dont find it engaging, dont find it challenging, dont find it rewarding - i only find it time consuming and frustrating.

Im always one 'server lag spike', one 'fps drop', one 'split second' distraction away from losing 30min to 1h of progress - as if Endgame was not difficult enough for me and finding spare time to play is not easy.

If possible; one very simple way to accommodate both types of players is with every new league, you create a version with this mechanic and one without.

What im advocating for is more player choice on how we play the game with every new league - if possible.

On top of that; i just found a bug where the game was not giving xp after death - it took me 15min of play to realize i was wasting my time and had to restart the game to fix it - therefore, these 15min of playtime were lost and useless for character progression.

If possible, i humbly request that GGG gives us more option of engagement with the game so we can tailor the experience to our level of proficiency and available time.
Thanks a lot.

Correction: It served a purpose in the 1990s* & no one is begging for 180° changes. The risk:reward ratio is not there. Extreme examples always help: You are 90% to level 100 and then you died, due to lag or low dip in FPS. That's 10% loss which equates to 10+hours farming.

Why is this even more taxing than D2 endgame xp loss? Sure it's the same percentage, but you are most likely to get to 97-98 spamming Baal with a group.

Unless you do an atlas startegy for exp with alot of mobs in maps etc its hard to juice the damn exp.

Unless you have a spark that clear mobs before they even spawn it is hard to play the game.

If you are a warrior , huntress or ranger then you are totally screwed.
