All affixes that are considered "Required" should appear across multiple affixes.

All affixes that are considered "Required" should appear across multiple affixes.

Case in point: damage on weapons. This is considered a required stat. And there are multiple different affixes that give flat damage on weapons. Along with multiple different affixes have %increased damage. And they stack.

-----
I believe finding replacement gear for any particular slot should, at minimum, occur every act and every 20 end game maps at a higher waystone than what you used before. This is not how it is current. I can't find replacements because certain must have affixes aren't common enough.
-----

Movement Speed, a required stat, is supported by one extremely rare affix. It should be hybrid with multiple different stats so it shows up more frequently, yet still has a low chance of being extremely high (aka, chase stat). I used a lvl 1 boots with 10 move speed till act 3. I picked up all the boots and alt, trans them looking for movement speed too. Replaced my boots a second time in act 4, and again in act 6. Have not replaced at all in waystones, and I'm on waystone 8 in the quests.

Movement speed should have multiple affixes that hybrid with other stats. Same rarity of a high role, an order of magnitude more common for lesser rolls.

For casters, + Spell Level is a required stat on your weapon. +3 to spell level is a multiplier on par with 100% increased damage given all the sources of increased damage on the tree. Spell level is an extremely rare mod. I found a staff with +spell, +fire, and +fire spell level in act 5. I have not been able to replace it, even though I'm in waystone 8. I pick up every wand and staff, and blue/regal, and if those don't hit, bench merge them and see if that hits. And I exalt rare staffs that are good enough. Never rolled another +4. Not even +4 with bad stats. At level 1, one in five wands/staff have +spell level. This rate feels good and should exist for the rest of the game.

+Spell level should have multiple affixes that hybrid it with other stat. Same rarity of a high role, an order of magnitude more common for lesser rolls.

Side Note, Mana on weapons should be switched to suffix. It is a defensive/support stat instead raw damage output. Does martial weapons have health as a prefix? No. Prefixes on weapons should only contain affixes that directly increases damage, just like how Prefixes on armor only increase defense/health/mana. Thus, mana should be a suffix.

Side note side note. For caster weapons, a less mana cost suffix that also hybrids with mana is a better trash stat than the current trash stats.

IMO the drop -> crafting loop in PoE is fundamentally flawed. Too reliant on RNG for your average player to enjoy.

Also, IMO, Last Epoch's crafting system is a masterclass on how to properly do it:

1) Deterministic crafting
2) Can't craft a gear piece indefinitely (they have a maximum "crafting potential"), therefore bad drops cannot be vastly improved
3) Just the right amount of RNG options
4) Strongest tiers for affixes are only available via drops (T6 and T7 affixes)

So instead of blindly chasing gear hoping the stars align, the loop is:

1) Seek a specific good tier of an affix from a drop
2) Either get lucky and drop it with open affixes or use one of the RNG options to try to remove an unwanted affix (basically like Orbs of Annulment)
3) Add another desired affix (tier 1)
4) Improve the affix tier (there's a hard cap to the affix tier via crafting)

This loop allows for a reliant SSF progression as you drop gear with increasingly better tiers of the desired affix.

The "endgame" upgrades involve getting an extremely lucky drop (max tier on 2+ desired affixes), then using the options to basically add more affixes than the item would normally be allowed to have.

In PoE terms, it would be the same as dropping a weapon with high tier and desired affixes, then adding a 7th affix to the item of a desired mod.

PS: This is mostly a dumbed down example of how it works. LE has a few RNG options that allow you to modify the affixes of an item, sometimes while keeping their tier. Similar to what we had in Harvest League.
