spell echo and unlesh doesn't work on hex blast

Keep in mind that Hexblast has a limit to the number of explosions it can create per cast. Since spell repeats are counted as part of the same cast as the original spell, if you reach the cap on the initial cast, the repeat(s) won't be able to do anything.

Try testing it against a single target with more than one curse, so that you don't reach the cap immediately.
