Interaction stopped working after interacting with the Corruption Altar

I have clicked on the Corruption Altar in Act 3 Cruel Jiquani's Sanctum+, the Corruption window appeared and I clicked on a skill gem and dragged it over the Corruption window "button" and the skill gem disappeared from inventory and it did not drop on the ground and now I can't click to interact on anything. I couldn't pick up things, nor click on NPCs, Waypoints, Checkpoints, etc.

I have fixed it by clicking on the Respawn at Checkpoint in the game menu.
Once I got respawned the skill gem was on my mouse and I put it in inventory and the corruption altar was reset and I could corrupt an item.
