Advertised as beginner or noob friendly.
I quit poe1 in an hour when I tried it way back when. I heard poe2 was going to be beginner friendly so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I will say there are things I didn't mind..like the bosses. Very hard but very enjoyable all the same for the most part. Then there are things I really don't enjoy, like the normal monster packs being so tough and then it being all too easy to pull more then you wanted and getting steamrolled and dying. The skill gem system feels weird but I guess I'll figure it out. But really the thing that is annoying is the lack of in game explanation of different important systems in the early game. I'm sitting there like..okay, how do I trade, how do I invite people to a party, how how how...It's a pretty bad experience being new in general so I think it was pretty poor decision making to try to advertise this as beginner friendly. It has not been beginner friendly at all.

Agreed.
For some reason they have never even tried to improve this in PoE1 and have stated that there are many third party sites to use. Not to mention the multitude of hidden mechanics like hit damage vs dot damage, or penetration vs lowering resists against invisible monster stats. I enjoy that PoE is a very complex game, but I'm not sure what the thinking was behind "We should never explain this or attempt to take responsibility for educating the player. Maybe it just felt like too much. |
