Slight overhaul for endgame balance proposal
Block should mitigate damage instead of fully nullify it.
I think block should reduce incoming damage and active block should giving the skill to shield you from any damage (yeah... giving Turtle charm to active block as baseline) One stat is already in the game: Guard. This stat should be a shield mechanic that could be increased with stat and skills. (looking at stun threshold since it is a useless stat anyway) So there should be block% chance that reduces incoming damage by flat value, and whatever left would be mitigated by armor. Adding nodes/skills to increase guard value Special nodes to change value to % or adding extra? Another special node to give get critical block (Titans ascendancy path, since warbringers have TC?) Speaking of Turtle charm, not sure if to balance it should it remove active block skill or reduced block chance and even increase guard value? Not as if players use active blocks often anyway over damage spells... There are special nodes in the game that gives you high % to block in exchange you still get % of damage: [Deflection] at bottom right corner Shouldnt this be the opposite? If all shields have a guard value that node should turn block to "perfect block", but giving up active block skill maybe? (and move closer to warrior side) This speciel node would turn the playstyle to what we currently have... I would go to the general direction that active block should give you the chance of even "soaking up" a oneshot mechanic. Before you say its too op in current state of the game: - Turtle charm warbringer is about this. With the unique lucky block shield I think you can turn your charcter into a lottery masochist (you have 18% chance to die in a bossfight) - this is why armor is a tricky stat because current state either nothing scratches you or you just get pulvirized by physical damage, which is quite off from a full armored character. And even worse, endgame fights are desinged to give challenge against "semi-immortal" players... - staggering exist: so maybe you blocked a oneshot skill, but if youre stunned until the second one comes... Or just cant use active block until the staggering bar is empty? (which again in its current state its a non existing mechanic, I dont think I ever got stunned by that, and I play thorn warbringer who jumps to the crowd and use resonate shield until enemies die) With this change not just warriors could get some love, but indirectly enemies could be balanced too that would impact other classes.
