Hard crash, CPU light on Mobo comes on
Twice now during gameplay, my computer has turned off, just like the power has been cut.
When trying to reboot, I get no video out and the CPU light on my motherboard lights up. I can fix it by unplugging my power cable to my PSU, then trying to power on my PC. The lights will flicker as the residual power is drained. Then I can plug my power back in and boot up as normal. I have not been able to find a fix while PC remains powered/plugged in. (I could probably flip the switch on my PSU, but haven't tried it.) I built my computer 3 months ago, and heavy game on it. It appears it happens when there is some intense computation going on during PoE 2 gameplay. The first time happened about 10 days ago, and I wasn't sure it was PoE 2, but I suspected it was. I don't remember the exact situation, but I remember it being mid fight. Today it just happened again. My monk was flicker striking across the map on a breech tier 6 map. The flicker strike ended, I went to land a hit on the nearest enemy, and my computer just powered completely off. No warning. I'm now 95% sure it's PoE 2. Specs: Windows 10 Pro - all updates applied ASRock B650M PRO RS Motherboard (Bios and AMD chipset drivers are most current. Previously 3 months old at start of thread. No changes after updating.) AMD Ryzen 5 9600x CPU AMD Radeon 7600 GPU 32gb ram. 2tb nvme. Edit: All GPU/CPU/mobo drivers are up to date. I even switched to beta 25.1.1 drivers and issue persists Zuletzt bearbeitet von SandTiger42#0968 um 09.02.2025, 23:10:18 Zuletzt angestoßen am 10.02.2025, 01:57:09

Just happened again.

And again. I've found a small trend.
It seems to happen most often on precursor towers. I hit a group of mobs, and they exploded. There was no sound. And the game had a few skipped frames a second later. I thought to myself, "It's going to happen. I should close and restart client". I did not. And 1 second later, the next group of mobs I hit, my PC just shut off. No warning. CPU error light again on motherboard. Had to clear power, and reboot twice. Can no confirm it's 100% PoE 2. I was only about 15 minutes into this gameplay before it crashed. Before it's been a few hours. But I think 3 out of the 4 instances were when I was in a precursor tower. Specifically the grass/hill climb one twice. (Different towers) |

Happened again. About 20-30 min into gameplay. Regular map this time. Swampy type area. Will turn on other monitor and monitor thermals next time to see if for some reason things are getting warm and the fan's aren't ramping up. I'm stumped otherwise.

I've now updated to most current version of bios, and also newest AMD chipset drivers.
Things were going good, until I flicker striked all across the map a few times, FPS became noticeably choppy, and then a hard shutdown. I had a HW monitor up on 2nd monitor. Hotspot on GPU never got above 83, and gpu temp well below that into 70's. Normal for my card. CPU stayed at about ~55c during gameplay. So sadly that overrules the overheating theory. |

It's the game, really.
I have similar problems. I have zero problem with any other game or anything, its only POE 2 that hard shut down my pc. Everything is up to date including bios and I have a i9-12900k + 3060 Ti. There will be a lot of computers that will be damaged and this problem is marked as resolved. |

I would check your XMP-DCOP. If your computer is lighting up on mobo its likely overclock (cpu ghz ) problem. Probably your motherboard not supporting.
2nd AMDs are well known for heat issues. Game using CPU abnormally at the current state and AMDs are throttle when going heat that's why you are seeing FPS stutters. I used to have interesting freezes / blank screens. Its been almost 2 weeks i uninstalled poe2 and my computer is flying speed. I ll wait a bit more until they made game viable. |

Thank's a ton. When I updated my bios firmware and cpu chipset drivers, I completely forgot to set my EXPO back to normal.
Nothing to do with PoE 2 sadly. It still crashed even when underclocking to 4800mhz. And my system is steady as a rock for everything, except PoE 2. But I thought my updates had caused some issues in my other more graphically intense games, as I got some micro stuttering that wasn't there previously. But I just forgot to reset my EXPO/XMP, and you saved the day by reminding me. And you probably didn't read my previous replies, there were a lot, but my system is running nice and cool. I wish it was the problem, but sadly it just looks like it's PoE 2. |

It's known and arrived on poe 1 6 months ago the devs never knew how to fix the problem, worse still they reproduced the problem that POE 1 had. Just a piece of advice if you have this kind of problems with POE don't launch the game anymore and uninstall it thenyou can do a review on steam of your misadventure. Don't risk ruining your PC for those damn devs who aren't able to respond and listen to their community. you just have to look at the forums, reddit, yt and so on they are all flooded with POE CPU CRASH and many others related to the CPU.
