Meteor Shrine bug?

I feel like I've never seen these shrines fire off at the rate the one I just ran into did. It fired so fast it stacked 3 on top of me before I could react and just got straight up nuked while attacking a mob, and I also swear I don't recall seeing the meteors stack on each other before. This a bug or did I just get unlucky? Anyone else feeling like this is off?
