Viper Legionnaire Debuff

So when running the Stone Citadel, I was hit by "Grappled: You are slowed while Viper Legionnaire has you hooked." The debuff persisted even after the enemy was killed and for the duration of the map. Leaving the map and reentering removes it, but I'm guessing that it's not suppose to persist for the whole map after killing the monster?
