Warping to a friend glitches storyline progression

I have a friend who after we defeated the act 1 boss, warped to me in Act 2 to try to avoid watching the cutscene. So he didn't speak with the hooded figure like I did to progress there. Well when we died at the first boss in Act 2 we couldn't respawn. It said we didn't have the proper quest progression. I have since defeated that boss on my own and gotten past it but the hyena boss doesn't even move when he approaches. Probably a good bug to squish when you have time.
