After patch 0.1.1 if one breaks armour on rares/uniques, then Scavenged Plating stacks beyond the maximum of 10 given in the description. Breaking armour on multiple rares at the same time seems to stack even higher.

Same here. Can stack up to 20. It only ahppens when hitting magic / rare / unique monsters. Most likely related to the skill's buffs which would give more stack for hitting higher rarity monsters.

yeah, but its only visual
in fact you get same 1 stack of plating regardless of mob rarity, so patch didn't worked

Yeah can confirm - the armour does not increase past the 10th stack - no matter the amount of stacks the buff shows.
can also confirm that the increase in stacks is only visual - uniques show an increase of 10, but only give 1.

also if any totem or ancestral spirit strikes right between my attacks and breaks armor i do not get any stacks, is it intended?
i've got "anvil's weight" (Break Armour equal to 10% of Hit Damage dealt) perk of Warbringer, so i cann't turn it off for totems
