Controller disconnection kicks to main screan

The battery of my controller died while i was in a trailmaster challenge 8. This kicked me out to main screen and the whole run is lost. Also noticed that any time a different device is connected ( portal or remote play) will result in the same kick to main screen. This is unreasonable and even poe1 did not do this, nor does any other game.

I know this isn't a fix , but a work-around for the moment till they fix this is to pause the game so the options menu appears and then switch controllers.
