Cast on Freeze + Ball Lightning

Hey,

I don't see anything in the patch notes about this...

But cast on freeze doesn't allow the use of Ball lightning...

I also can't see any specific reason such as tags etc that would not allow it.

When I attach ball lightning and try and enable cast on freeze it states I do not have enough spirit....

however it works fine for other lightning skills and comet...

and the spirit cost doesn't appear to change either (60 spirit cost with 60 available spirit).

After investigating more.

it seems the problem is with that specific ball lightning gem.

it's not corrupted, lvl 14 and wont work with cast on freeze.

I created a NEW ball lightning gem at lvl 14 and that slots in and activates on cast on freeze...

however this other version does not...

so it seems there is a problem with this specific instance of the gem...

yeah, something similar happened to me with my spark gem. When I first got cast on freeze, I believe was around the Halani Gates area in act 2. I tested it to understand how these new meta/trigger gems worked, and my level 1 spark gem worked just fine.

Then, later on, when I wanted to upgrade spark with a Level 9 gem, it would not work in the CoF support slots. I have no clue! I made a guess it was because CoF was only level 8, while spark was 9? but that makes no sense when I clearly remember it worked just fine before! even arc gets greyed out, only my orb of storms, which is level 8, works!

i tested different versions of the gem to see if it was a level issue but it doesn't appear to be.

as I said I created an identical version of the ball lightning gem same level etc etc.

one of them works and the other does not.

no apparent reason....
