Burning Inscription not scaling from tree

- Tested burning inscription by triggering it via bone blast on wand.
- % increased spell damage and % increased fire damage on the tree seem to have no interaction with its damage.
- Tested with Blackflame ring which appeared to be working.
- % increased chaos damage from tree also not doing anything.
- Support gems such as fiery death and fire pen do not work, assuming this is because they require a hit, just noting in case this is not the reasoning.
- All testing was done on a witch with only the spell damage nodes at start and adding fire or chaos damage when testing them.
- All tests were done on the executioner in A1 normal difficulty.

As per above, wondering if this is working as intended and not scaling from any of the increases from the tree or not. Unable to reliably test % increased from gear at this time.

I've tested as well and my findings are pretty much the same as yours.
For testing I removed all items and gems that might change the results and removed all items I didn't need and went to fight "Beira of the Rotten Pack" in Act one, since she's close to the waypoint and you can see the exact damage number on the boss health bar.

My findings:
- Blackflame ring works, but only the line "50% increased Magnitude of Ignite you inflict". This did in fact increase the damage.
- "Enemies Ignited by you take Chaos Damage instead of Fire Damage from Ignite" does not seem to affect the Igniting Ground from Burning Inscription. To test this I did multiple runs on "Beira of the Rotten Pack" and kept respeccing 5 Passive points from Chaos Damage increases to Fire Damage increases and with Fire Damage nodes I did noticably more damage whereas with the Chaos Damage nodes I did exactly the same Damage I did without even spending the point on anything.

So basically what works is:
- Spell Damage
- Fire Damage
- Ignite Magnitude

What doesn't work:
- Chaos Damage with Blackflame (please fix GGG I beg you)
Further testing led me to believe that this is actually working as intended, due to how Ailments and DoT stuff works in PoE 2.

Let me explain:
Let's assume the following values:
Player has 1000 Mana
Player uses Blackflame Ring (Ignite deals Chaos Damage and 50% Ignite Magnitude)

So Burning Inscription says
"Creates Ignited Ground Igniting Enemies based off a percentage of your Maximum Mana."
What this means is that the Igniting Ground will take 20% of your Maximum Mana and treat it as if it was the Hit triggering an Ignite. Ignite base Damage is 20% of the triggering Hit per second. Using the above values this would mean that the Igniting Ground takes 20% of your Mana, which will be increased by the 50% Ignite Magnitude, and then treats that Damage as the Hit that triggers the Ignite
200 (base) * 1,5 (Magnitude) = 300
300 * 0,2 (Ignite DPS) = 60 DPS as Chaos

Basically the only thing that a Chaos Damage Ignite does is that it will get buffed by Wither and debuffing Chaos Resistance (Despair for example) - but it would still scale with %Fire Damage as that will scale the base Damage.
When using blackflame ring burning damage is not converted at all. It just make enemies take fire damage as chaos but you are still doing fire damage so even when using the ring you should scale with fire damage and ignite magnitude. But when talking about resistances, enemies chaos resistance is taken into account.

Would be great to have some tooltip when using burning inscription so we can test and compare.

Btw, burning ground has something weird as it can't damage flying enemies :/
I am playing a Stormweaver stacking mana and trying to get flammability supported with burning inscription to work.

When I read the previous posts in tjos forum I was a bit disheartened as I really like the idea of this kind of build but I pushed on to see if I could make it work.

Nearly at maps and have 2.1k mana so the ignite from burning inscription will ignite enemies as though hitting them for 420 base fire damage (I think).

I have'nt played around with blackflame ring and just going to stick to fire damage dor now. Damage is decent, I use it on a pack of mobs first then flameblast and everything usually dies.

One big thing I just noticed, although on the skill gem screen it says you can't add supports like searing flame or fire exposure (assuming it's because flammability does not hit enemies) and it is shown red, you still can actually slot them in! I have played around with them and they do add damage!

I don't know whether the skill screen is wrong and the message that says they can't support flammability is wrong and they should be able to support the skill OR I have found a bug where supports that ahould not work with flammability actually work???

What do you guys think?

Burning inscription in my opinion is useless without having the ability to support it with gems like conc effect or searing flame. I understand why, because flammability does not hit enemies but without those kind of damage supports then burning inscription won't do much damage.
