Bad Performance on Ryzen 7 5800X3D

Hey!

I'm just here to report that Path of Exile 2 is not correctly utilizing the resources available from my Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU. After reaching the Vastiri Desert, I'm getting REALLY BAD frame drops and CPU spikes, but in the Taskmanager my CPU is never above 30% usage.

This CPU architecture is famous for having compatibility issues with old game frameworks, and since PoE2's engine has been built over PoE engine, my only assumption is that is suffers from the same problems related to multithread usage.

I'd really appreciate a fix to this issue, thanks!

on my processor 5800x3d are also observed stutters

I can also atest to this. Today my computer just shut down on poe2 launch. Granted it was loaded with other apps running simultaneously so it's safe to assume the issues pop up under higher loads.

GPU is not the issue 7900xt
it's not a 5800X3D CPU issue entirely, even PoE1 was known to under-utilize CPUs, especially in towns.
The same issued carried on to PoE2, I'm getting 40-50 FPS in the caravan town with a 10600K @ 4.4GHz + RTX 4070, which really indicates an issue with the game's engine.
i doubt they are able to fix this or even care about it...

their streamer army has high end pcs and make it look good thats all that counts it seems...

if they dont fix this, this was the last time they got money from me

and yes i have the same issues

That is always due to faulty hardware (first guess power supply) or buggy drivers.

but in the Taskmanager my CPU is never above 30% usage.

If I had a Euro for everyone who thinks their CPU needs to hit 100% usage or its bad, I'd be a rich man indeed.

Utilization is a meaningless metric for assessing how well a game is utilizing the CPU, as utilization only asks "how much of the CPU is being used" but it absolutely doesn't mean "low utilization automatically bad".

The only meaningful way to extract info from utilization is in extreme cases (1% or 100%) or when comparing to the EXACT SAME HARDWARE IN THE EXACT SAME SETTING.

That said, the game has some issue right now. My 7800X3D handles it well, but the frametime graph often has unexplainable spikes that come out of nowhere. There are certainly multiple issues with theg ame right now, and the stutters / low utilization are one of them. It's not that the game can't take advantage of high end hardware, like your CPU, it has some underlying problems that cause hickups and performance loss.

When the game runs well, it runs VERY well for me. But when it doesn't, well, fortunately I only get some brief stutters here and there, but yeah, obviously there is some issue here.

That's not a PoE issue, that sounds like a Computer issue. Games actually full crashing the pc is extremely rare, it's more likely your PC has some other problem going on
same here.. my cpu and gpu runs on 60-70% load but i have massive fps drops everywhere :( unplayable
Same for me. 5700x3d and 6750xt. when the cpu runs like it should i have stable 80 to 120 fps all the time but sometimes you have the shader is running full or the cpu is on maximum and it slow down to the 40´s out of nowhere. sometimes to deactivate and active the multithreading option helped to fix it but in general i am very pissed. no game out there has those issues for me. pc runs like a charm. only poe2 sucks and this is supposed to be my main game -.- well... sad... i upgrade my pc in 1 year or 1 1/2 and if poe 2 keeps to kill my fun like this i will stop it even that i love the game.
