egpu - max settings on 4k with RX Vega 64 possible?

I'm currently playing PoE on my Macbook Pro (mid 2018) using bootcamp. Of course, the built in Radeon Pro 560x is by no means able to run the game at native resolution (neither the laptop's 2880x1800 nor the monitor's 4k), even on the lowest settings. Thats why I decided to get a egpu setup that should be able to run the game native on the highest settings.

Apple currently only supports AMD cards(I know, with some tweaks also Nvidia Cards will run, but I don't wanna mess too hard with my work laptop tbh), so I will go for a Radeon.

Question is, will the RX Vega 64 be enough to have no issues on max settings or should I wait for the Radeon VII?

I don't wanna choose my builds according to my graphics card anymore^^.

It completely depends on your resolution and expected refresh rate is.

I will say this, even with an extremely high end desktop, poe can not be ran at 120 steady fps at 1440p in end game scenarios.

4k at steady 60 fps, I am not sure.

The problem is, the drivers Apple delivers for bootcamp are incredibly bad.. I can't play any game without vsync enabled..without I get an unbareable amount of tearing, so a steady 60fps is kinda crucial^^. Well, then I will be waiting for the new generation and hope for the best I guess..untill then I'll be stuttering my way through betrayal at 900p..
I feel like you could just build a pretty decent gaming PC for not much more than the price of a good egpu. Maybe the issue for you is portability or something else I don't know, but I've used Macs for years for daily home use and some work, and I just have a separate PC I build for gaming.
I can run my 580 at 4k max setting no issue except the card produces allot of heat, so I normally run it a bit lower settings so its cooler in the room and cannot tell a diff anyways.

Im pretty sure POE bottle necks at the CPU If you have a slow processor, so a faster GPU makes no diff.

My Macbook has a 8th gen Core i9 with 4.8GHz, so I dont think the bottleneck lays there.

But according to benchmarks the Pro 560X is compareable to a mobile 1050 and i doubt that a 1050 can run PoE in 4k with max details..

With the best gpu/cpu on the market the game will bottle neck at the GPU whilst the cpu hangs around 40-50% utilization. At 1440p 120 fps, poe can not even come close to maxing out a i7-8700K. Not sure if its the case at 4k but I imagine so.
